Joao Felix gets 900% wage increment at cash-strapped Barcelona
Joao Felix’s salary has increased by an astonishing 900 percent after signing a new deal with Barcelona, despite being on loan at the Camp Nou from Atletico Madrid.
When he initially joined Barcelona on loan last summer, Felix had a yearly salary of £344,440 due to the club’s financial constraints.
However, Barcelona has since increased his salary to £3,444,400 per year, or £66,000 a week, to comply with Financial Fair Play rules.
Despite the financial challenges faced by Barcelona, Felix is considered one of the standout performers of the season.
As a one-time Golden Boy winner, he has scored six goals and provided three assists in 21 appearances for Barcelona this term, a significant improvement from his time at Chelsea, where he managed four goals and zero assists in total.
With Barcelona currently seven points behind league leaders Real Madrid and trailing behind Girona in second place, Felix will be under pressure to maintain his form and help Barcelona in their title charge.
The team has faced challenges in scoring goals this season, being the lowest scorers among the top five teams in La Liga.
Kylian Mbappe has confirmed that he will be departing Paris Saint-Germain at the conclusion of the current season.
The announcement, made through a video posted on social media, puts an end to the speculation surrounding the World Cup winner’s future with the Parisians.
Mbappe, 25, has decided not to sign an extension with the Ligue 1 club after a prolonged period of uncertainty about his contract situation.

The result leaves the tie finely poised heading into the second leg, with a place in the final at Wembley on the line.

The Nigeria Football Federation has appointed Finidi George as the new head coach of the Super Eagles, beating Emmanuel Amuneke to the job.
George, a former international player, served as an assistant to José Santos Peseiro before taking over in an interim capacity for two friendly matches in Morocco last month.
George’s immediate task will be to lead the Super Eagles in two crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and Benin Republic.
