AJ delivers KO of Francis Ngannou to pave the way for huge heavyweight clash vs Tyson Fury (VIDEO)
Anthony Joshua dominated Francis Ngannou in two explosive rounds, solidifying his position in the heavyweight world title race.
Despite Ngannou’s previous impressive performance against Tyson Fury, where he took the fight the distance and even dropped the WBC champion, he was unable to mount any significant offense against the 34-year-old boxing star.
Joshua said: “It is what it is.
“On the route to the championship you should always stay focused and i had to step away from the mission. I thought it was just a gimmick for the broadcasters.
“When I saw the fight with Tyson Fury I thought damn this guy can fight, I want a piece of that.
“I wanted to welcome him and this does not take anything away from him, he can come again.
“I am still learning and pushing, I don’t know if I am coming into my peak, if that was me down there you would be saying ‘Anthony Joshua should retire’.
“In five years I will be finished fighting and sitting down and all this will be a distant memory.
“I am going to go back and lock myself in my cage and they can let me out when they want me to fight. I just want to fight.”
Anthony Joshua displayed remarkable precision and control in his fight against Francis Ngannou.
Despite Ngannou’s resilience, Joshua’s final blow was nearly devastating. Before the fight began, Joshua took a moment to pray in his corner, showing his focus and determination.
Once the fight started, Joshua was on point with his jab, targeting Ngannou’s body and head. Ngannou, known as the “Predator,” tried to counter with his left hooks, a strategy he believed could exploit Joshua’s weaknesses.
However, Joshua’s right hand proved too much for Ngannou, knocking him down almost to the point of defeat.
Despite this, Ngannou showed incredible heart by getting back up and enduring the rest of the round.
In the second round, Joshua landed another powerful combination, but Ngannou bravely got up again. However, a final devastating blow from Joshua ended the fight, with the referee stopping it without a count.

Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois: How to watch, date, venue, live stream
Anthony Joshua is set to challenge for the heavyweight world title once again as he takes on Daniel Dubois at Wembley on Saturday night.
This bout offers Joshua a chance to become a three-time heavyweight world champion, reclaiming the IBO title and moving closer to an undisputed championship shot.
Joshua, who was dethroned by Andy Ruiz in 2019 and later by Oleksandr Usyk in 2021, has since worked on a remarkable comeback. His resurgence began with victories over Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius, followed by dominant performances against Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou.
Now 34, Joshua faces a fellow Brit for the first time since his 2015 victory over Dillian Whyte. Dubois, who will be his opponent in front of an expected crowd of 96,000, promises to make this encounter a thrilling and high-stakes showdown.
Dubois was declared world champion in June after Usyk vacated one of his belts following a successful defense against Tyson Fury in May. With the IBF insisting on Usyk facing his mandatory challenger instead of a rematch with Fury, the Ukrainian handed over the belt, creating an opportunity for the two British fighters.
Dubois also had his own encounter with Usyk, losing in a controversial match last year. However, he bounced back, defeating Jarrell Miller and Filip Hrgovic to secure the IBF interim title. Those victories demonstrated Dubois’ grit and determination, despite the grueling nature of both fights.
Now, the 27-year-old is set to defend his title against Joshua, with the winner in line for a potential clash with either Usyk or Fury next year for all the heavyweight belts.

The fight will take place on Saturday, September 21 at Wembley Stadium.

Mike Tyson’s purse for Paul fight could earn him massive pay like in his prime vs Lewis
Mike Tyson is set to earn a substantial payday in his upcoming fight against Jake Paul.
The bout, scheduled for July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas and broadcast live on Netflix, has garnered significant attention since it was announced.
Tyson, at 58 years old, will face Paul, 31 years his junior, in what is expected to be a professional bout.
Speculation around Tyson’s earnings for the fight has been rampant, with estimates suggesting he could earn around $20 million (£15.7 million).
This figure reflects the significant draw of the event and the interest it has generated among fans.
“I mean, you know what I respect, Uncle Mike… But it obviously takes two to tango,” he said.
“I feel like there is probably a really good payday for Mike. He’s probably going to wind up making close to about 20 mil, and he’s about to turn 58 years old.”
While the $20 million estimate for Tyson’s upcoming fight is speculative, it would align with the significant purses he commanded during his prime.
Over his career, Tyson reportedly earned approximately $430 million (£337.5 million).
His highest payday was $35 million for his bout with Lennox Lewis, and he earned $30 million for fights against Frank Bruno and Evander Holyfield.
Despite his lucrative fights, Tyson faced financial challenges and filed for bankruptcy in 2003.
However, he has since rebuilt his wealth through acting roles and his cannabis business.
Despite his financial success, Tyson’s decision to fight Paul shows he’s still interested in securing a substantial payday.
