Arsenal duo Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette are being linked with a shock move to Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona as Edu’s search for a new striker takes a new twist, according to report.
Both attackers were absent from the Gunners’ dismal 2-0 defeat to Brentford on the opening night of the new Premier League season, with manager Mikel Arteta stating that ‘illness’ kept both forwards out of the contest at the Brentford Community Stadium.

- United ‘interested’ in Ruben Neves before deadline day
Speaking to Sky Sports in the build-up to the clash with Brentford, Arteta said: “They feel unwell, that’s all I can say. It is [a big miss] but in a world we live in I think the only permanent thing now are changes instead of seeking for excuses, we’re seeking for solutions.”
But fresh reports have suggested that the attacking pair could miss out on more than Arsenal’s opening game of the season.
Spanish outlet SPORT state that Aubameyang and Lacazette are two players being targeted by Barca.
The report goes on to add that due to the catastrophic financial situation at the Catalan-based club, which has already seen legend Lionel Messi being forced out due to La Liga financial regulations, part-exchange deals are what Joan Laporta and the rest of the Barcelona board are proposing to Edu.
Clement Lenglet, Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele are players that could reportedly be included in this complicated transfer operation.
Unfortunately for Edu, he would likely miss out on a potential £50million transfer windfall with the very few interested clubs including Barca not keen on paying hefty money for the pair.
It is understood that the north Londoners are now open to letting at least one of Aubameyang or Lacazette leave before the deadline is reached on August 31.
