Alabama football players spend weekend with kid battling cancer
Over the weekend, several Alabama football players took a 90-minute trip to visit a young boy named Will, who is currently battling cancer. Instead of using their time off to rest or stay in Tuscaloosa, this group of athletes chose to do something meaningful by spending the day with him.
The players who made the trip included Qua Russaw, Wilkin Formby, Richard Young, Kadyn Proctor, LT Overton, and Tim Keenan III.
Ryan C. Fowler of Tide 100.9 shared the story on X late Sunday, highlighting their selfless gesture.
“Rather than taking a break from their football commitments, these players drove an hour and a half to spend time with Will, who is preparing for a major surgery in April in Houston, Texas, to remove his femur. He was having a farewell gathering with friends, appropriately called ‘Farewell Femur,’” Fowler wrote.
Fowler also expressed appreciation for the players’ kindness, stating, “Thank you, Wilkin, Qua, Tim, LT, Richard, and Kadyn, for representing the University of Alabama with class. But more importantly, thank you for being men of faith and sharing love and encouragement with Will as he faces this difficult battle.”
Amidst demanding schedules filled with spring practices, film study, and coursework, these young men prioritized making a difference. For Will and his family, this day will forever be etched in their memories.
As April approaches and Will prepares for his surgery, the visit from Alabama’s players provided a much-needed moment of joy—one that will be cherished by everyone who was there.
