Cause of death revealed after son of ex-Yankees star Brett Gardner dies, aged 14

An initial investigation has determined a possible cause of death for Miller Gardner, the 14-year-old son of former New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner.

Brett announced the heartbreaking news in a social media post on Sunday, March 23, revealing that Miller had passed away while the family was vacationing in Costa Rica. Several relatives, including Miller, had fallen ill, and he tragically died “peacefully in his sleep” on Friday, March 21.

Authorities from Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Agency stated that Miller’s death was attributed to asphyxiation, potentially caused by food-related intoxication. According to NBC News, his body was discovered in a hotel room in Manuel Antonio, a well-known resort destination on the country’s Pacific Coast. However, the cause remains preliminary, pending further autopsy and toxicology results.
