Lakers’ Injury Report For Clippers Rematch: LeBron And Luka Questionable; Reaves Doubtful

The Los Angeles Lakers are set to face the Los Angeles Clippers for the second time in three days on Sunday, and they have released their latest injury report for the rematch.

LeBron James and Luka Doncic are both listed as questionable due to injury management concerns—James dealing with a left foot issue and Doncic with a left calf strain. The two had the same status for Friday’s 106-102 victory over the Clippers but ultimately played, so there’s a good chance they will take the court again on Sunday.

Austin Reaves, however, is far less likely to play. The Lakers have listed him as doubtful after he suffered a right calf strain in the first quarter of Friday’s game.

Another injury concern is Jordan Goodwin, who rolled his ankle late in that game. He is also doubtful for Sunday’s matchup due to a right ankle sprain, making it unlikely he will participate.

Meanwhile, Rui Hachimura and Maxi Kleber have been ruled out. Hachimura is dealing with left patellar tendinopathy and will be re-evaluated in a week, though the team remains hopeful he won’t miss much time. Kleber, on the other hand, continues to recover from right foot surgery.

There was initial concern that Reaves’ injury might sideline him for an extended period, especially after he did not return to Friday’s game. However, MRI results provided good news, revealing no serious damage. NBA insider Shams Charania reported that Reaves’ status is day-to-day, though his availability for Sunday remains uncertain.

Reaves has been a key contributor this season, averaging 19.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 1.1 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game. While his injury isn’t severe, Dr. Evan Jeffries, DPT, expects him to miss at least a few days or up to a week as a precaution. Given the Lakers’ cautious approach to player injuries, they may opt to rest him for a couple of games.

Despite recent injury setbacks, the Lakers are on a roll. Their win over the Clippers marked their fifth straight victory, improving their season record to 37-21.
