Chelsea Eye £25m Midfielder Who Idolizes Andrea Pirlo

Chelsea have made an encouraging start to the season under the guidance of Enzo Maresca, with the Blues currently sitting in fourth place after securing four wins from their first seven matches.

Known for their possession-based approach, Maresca’s side has exceeded expectations, and many believe a return to the Champions League is within reach.

To bolster their chances of achieving that goal, Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a highly-rated midfielder from Italy ahead of the January transfer window.

Chelsea Targeting Samuele Ricci

According to Milan Live, Chelsea have expressed interest in Torino midfielder Samuele Ricci. The Italy international has also caught the attention of Manchester City and AC Milan, making him a sought-after player in the upcoming transfer window.

Ricci, who has been compared to Andrea Pirlo for his style of play, is valued at around £25 million. Reports suggest Manchester City may already be in discussions to sign him as they seek a replacement for the injured Rodri.

However, according to TEAMtalk, it is unlikely that Chelsea will formalize their interest in Ricci, as Maresca is reportedly content with his current midfield options. The Chelsea boss worked diligently during the summer transfer window to streamline his squad, even facing criticism for some decisions, such as loaning out Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling, the latter now playing for Arsenal.

Chelsea Should Prioritize a Striker in January

If Chelsea are to make any significant additions in January, a striker should be their top priority. Currently, Nicolas Jackson is the only specialist centre-forward in the squad, but his performances have been inconsistent.

One potential target is Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres, who has been in exceptional form, scoring 12 goals in 11 appearances this season. His goal-scoring exploits have attracted interest from Arsenal, and according to *TBR Football*, Gyökeres is open to a move to London, which could make him an ideal candidate for Chelsea’s attacking needs.

If Chelsea aims to compete on multiple fronts this season, securing a proven goal scorer like Gyökeres could be the key to success.
