BREAKIN NEWS: Dolphins to add former Texans Offensive Coordinator to Mike McDaniel’s Coaching Staff

Dolphins to add former Texans Offensive Coordinator to Mike McDaniel’s Coaching Staff

Despite Darrell Bevell staying put after Chip Kelly accepted the Las Vegas Raiders’ offensive coordinator role, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel has added another experienced offensive mind to his staff.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, former Houston Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik is set to join the Miami Dolphins as a senior passing game coordinator.

Slowik, 37, spent the past two seasons calling plays alongside DeMeco Ryans in Houston. Under his leadership, the Texans ranked 22nd in total yards per game (319.7) and 19th in points per game (21.9) last season. Following a disappointing postseason, Houston opted to part ways with him. In Miami, he will reunite with McDaniel, with whom he worked for five seasons in San Francisco. He will also join his brother, Ryan Slowik, currently serving as the Dolphins’ defensive backs coach and pass game specialist.

A Princeton, New Jersey native, Slowik began his coaching career in 2011 as a defensive assistant with the Washington Commanders. After a brief hiatus, he joined San Francisco in 2017 as a defensive quality control coach before transitioning to an offensive assistant role in 2019. He was later promoted to offensive pass game specialist in 2021 and became the 49ers’ offensive pass game coordinator in 2022.

After a stint as Houston’s offensive coordinator alongside Ryans, Slowik will now work alongside quarterbacks coach Darrell Bevell, offensive coordinator Frank Smith, and the rest of Miami’s offensive staff. Their collective mission: revitalize the Dolphins’ offense and bring explosive plays back to Miami.
