Harry Kane completes record-breaking transfer to Bayern Munich (Details)

Harry Kane has completed a £100 million transfer to Bayern Munich, leaving Tottenham Hotspur to become the German club’s record signing.

After a prolonged pursuit throughout the summer, Thomas Tuchel’s wish has been fulfilled as Kane officially joins Bayern Munich.

This move smashes Bayern’s previous transfer record of £72 million paid for Lucas Hernandez in 2019 from Atletico Madrid.

Kane has inked a four-year contract with Bayern and will don the No.9 jersey. This marks a significant change for the 30-year-old England captain, who might have the chance to secure a trophy shortly as Bayern takes on RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup.

The acquisition of Kane marks Bayern’s fourth significant signing for the season, following the arrivals of Konrad Laimer, Raphael Guerreiro, and Kim Min-jae.

Kane said:

“I’m very happy to be a part of FC Bayern now. Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I’ve always said that I want to compete and prove myself at the highest level during my career. This club is defined by its winning mentality – it feels very good to be here.”

Bayern president Herbert Hainer added:

“Welcome to Munich, Harry Kane! We’re very happy about this top-quality new arrival. The transfer required tenacity, bite and perseverance – my compliments to all those involved in these negotiations at FC Bayern, led by our CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. Harry Kane will not only strengthen FC Bayern, but also be a real asset to the entire Bundesliga.”

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy expressed his disappointment with Kane’s exit but thanked the England captain for his contribution as Spurs, going down as one of their greatest ever players.

“We sought over a long period of time to engage Harry and his representatives in several forms of contract extension, both short and long term,” Levy explained.

“Harry was clear, however, that he wanted a fresh challenge and would not be signing a new contract this summer. We have reluctantly, therefore, agreed to his transfer.”

Manchester United has officially announced that Aaron Wan-Bissaka suffered a hamstring injury over the weekend.

In their statement, the club confirmed that:

“Aaron is set for a period on the sidelines after sustaining an injury during Saturday’s game against Brighton.”

Although the club’s statement mentions that the full-back will be sidelined for “several weeks,” The Athletic reports that he might be out for up to two months.

Wan-Bissaka had featured in all five Premier League games this season, and his absence will be felt by the team.

With Wan-Bissaka sidelined, Diogo Dalot is expected to step in as the starting right-back for Manchester United’s upcoming Champions League match against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Victor Osimhen, Lionel Messi leads nominees list for 2023 Best FIFA Football Award

The nominees for The Best FIFA Men’s Player award include Victor Osimhen, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Erling Haaland, among others.

Manchester City dominates the list with six of their players, including Ederson in the goalkeepers’ category.

Pep Guardiola and Ange Postecoglou are among the nominees for the men’s coach award.

In addition to the men’s awards, there are also nominations for women’s awards.

England’s Lionesses, who reached the final of the Women’s World Cup, have several players nominated, including Rachel Daly, Alex Greenwood, Lauren James, Keira Walsh, and Mary Earps.

Sarina Wiegman and Emma Hayes are nominated for the women’s coach award.
