Harry Maguire reveals his no longer Man Utd captain (Details)

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire announced this evening via his social media page that is no longer Red Devils’ captain following a dialogue with the club manager.
On January 17, 2020, following Ashley Young’s departure to Inter Milan, the England international was appointed as club captain by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær.
Just nine days later, he marked his captaincy by scoring his first goal for Manchester United in a 6-0 victory against Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup.
SportVectru understands that former manager Solskjær sought to bring in a player with strong leadership qualities to address a perceived lack of focus and direction in the United dressing room.
Drawing from his experience playing alongside renowned leaders such as Roy Keane, Eric Cantona, Peter Schmeichel, and Denis Irwin, Solskjær recognized the importance of having influential figures in the squad to provide guidance and set high standards.
In Maguire’s statement via his social media page: “After discussions with the manager today he has informed me he is changing captain.
“He outlined his reasons to me and whilst I’m personally extremely disappointed, I will continue to give my all every time I wear the shirt.
“So I wanted to say a massive thank you to the Manchester United fans for all their brilliant support whilst I’ve been wearing the armband.
“Since the day I took on the role, three and half years ago, it’s been a huge privilege to lead Manchester United and one of the proudest moments of my career to date.
“It’s one of the greatest honours in club football. I’ve done everything I possibly could to help United be successful – on and off the field.
“I will always be grateful to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for first giving me the responsibility and I wish whoever now takes it on every success and they will have my full support.”
Ahead of the new season, Manchester United would be looking forward to the official announcement of a new captain.
As a United fan, who do you think should be the club’s new captain for 2023/24 season?
