Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has acknowledged Trent Alexander-Arnold’s versatility and confirmed that the young defender is being considered as an option in the number six role this season.

However, Klopp also hinted that the club is still in the market for additional midfield signings.

The Reds have seen several players leave during the summer, including Naby Keita, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and loanee Arthur. Furthermore, Jordan Henderson has departed for Al Ettifaq, and Fabinho is also reportedly close to a move to the Saudi Pro League.

With these departures, Klopp is exploring different options to strengthen the midfield, and Alexander-Arnold’s adaptability has caught the manager’s attention.

Despite the recent signings of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai for around £100m, Liverpool is still open to further reinforcements in the midfield department. This indicates the club’s ambition to maintain a competitive squad for the upcoming season.

“Trent can play the position,” Klopp responded to questions about Trent Alexander-Arnold potentially playing in the holding role permanently by acknowledging that he has used the young defender in that position during friendlies at the Germany camp.

“I know after we put him in this kind of flexible role – right-back, midfield position – last year everybody told us that he should play now completely in midfield, without really explaining why, to be honest. But that’s not the job obviously of you to explain why, just ask for it. That’s fine.

“So, on the position [number] six it’s a completely different position than he played last season or he played for England because it’s a holding position, you have to organize much more, you have to know who is in your back, two center-halves but not another midfielder, stuff like this.

“We thought it’s a very good and important thing to do in this pre-season. We will now try even when you are pretty sure about the position at the moment, No.6, we still want to try it with Trent on right-back again. That was always clear, that we will use the pre-season for that as well. Then we will see how we can start the season.

“The start is the start and then all the rest is the rest of the season. There are different things for us to do and consider, but yes Trent can play the position. It depends on who is to the left and the right of him, how we defend as a group is much more important.

“If we do that well, if we defend with all the other midfielders plus the three up front plus the last line well, probably at times I can play the six because then there is not much to do anymore!

“Too often we leave too much work for the six and that was in other moments a little bit the problem, so that’s why it’s a general task for us to work on and that’s what we are doing. Yeah, then we will see who plays where.”

Last season, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s role evolved into a hybrid right-back/midfielder position, which coincided with Liverpool’s improved form in the latter part of the campaign. During this period, Alexander-Arnold emerged as one of the team’s standout performers.

In the pre-season friendlies this summer, there have been instances where Alexander-Arnold has been deployed in a holding midfielder position, while Conor Bradley has played as the right-back.

As a fan, which position would like to see Alexander-Arnold next season?

JUST IN! Vet center sue Chelsea's £2bn stadium redevelopment (Details)

Military veterans have reportedly taken legal action to halt Chelsea’s £2 billion redevelopment of Stamford Bridge.

The club’s plans got approval in July after offering £50 million for the site adjacent to Stamford Bridge, where approximately 100 military veterans and their widows reside.

The veterans, angered by the prospect of being displaced, have escalated their efforts to thwart the sale.

They have sought an injunction to prevent the Stoll Charity trustees, who oversee the apartment block, from selling the property to Chelsea.

The veterans’ argument centers on how the sale would negatively impact the local community and harm residents, including vulnerable individuals who have served their country.

One resident, Matthew Bignell, 36, expressed his support for the injunction and his intention to stay in his home to show solidarity with fellow tenants.

Bignell stated that residents are prepared to face eviction rather than leave voluntarily.

This legal action by veterans is a setback for Chelsea owner Todd Boehly, who envisioned a significant stadium redevelopment that would increase capacity from 42,000 to 55,000.

It is another challenge following the club’s previous proposal to move to Battersea Power Station in 2012, which faced fan opposition and ultimately collapsed.

Two Man Utd stars plead for Sancho to apologize to Ten Hag to end exile

The host of the Manchester United star has urged Jadon Sancho to put an end to his feud with Erik ten Hag and issue an apology.

This comes after reports that the England winger has been banned from the club’s first-team facilities.

The dispute between Sancho and Ten Hag began on September 3 when the manager accused Sancho of inadequate training, leading to his exclusion from the matchday squad against Arsenal.

Sancho responded on social media, describing himself as a “scapegoat” and implying that Ten Hag was being dishonest.

Sancho has not played for the club since and was banned from first-team training. However, some teammates, including Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, and former captain Harry Maguire, have tried to intervene and encouraged Sancho to apologize to the manager.

They believe that apologizing is the best way to resolve the situation and get Sancho back on the pitch.

They sympathize with his feelings but recognize that some of his social media posts went too far. Sancho has been training and eating with academy players, but there’s no set date for his return to the first team.

While Ten Hag is reportedly willing to welcome Sancho back, it’s contingent on the winger issuing an apology. A source emphasized that resolving the situation hinges on Sancho taking this step, as the coach’s stance is firm.

During the match, Carragher sarcastically applauded a save made by Ramsdale’s replacement, David Raya:

“I thought it was like the Oscars, you know when someone loses the Oscar and they start clapping and smiling for the other person. I was laughing when I saw that.

“He’s absolutely devastated with that really.”

Ramsdale’s father expressed his displeasure with Carragher’s comments, highlighting the importance of supporting players rather than mocking them.

After the match, father Nick Ramsdale replied to a Tweet about Carragher’s comments:

“You are a Disgrace!! Show some class!! My lad has.”
