JUST IN: Vucevic’ Preference on Future With Bulls is Made Clear

Vucevic’ Preference on Future With Bulls is Made Clear

Nikola Vucevic has been a key contributor for the Chicago Bulls this season, playing at a near All-Star level for much of the year.

Despite his strong performances, Vucevic has frequently been mentioned in trade discussions. While he remained with the team past the Feb. 6 trade deadline, speculation persisted that he could be moved in the offseason.

However, according to Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times, the veteran center wants to stay in Chicago and complete his contract.

“One player who’s suddenly buying in—and would like to stay another season and finish out his contract—is Vucevic,” Cowley reported. “That’s a bit surprising, especially after his close friend DeMar DeRozan was traded to the Kings, Alex Caruso was dealt to the Thunder last summer, and the LaVine trade followed. Many expected Vucevic to be moved before the Feb. 6 deadline, and when he wasn’t, there were concerns he might disengage.”

Over the past two months, the Bulls have been one of the NBA’s hottest teams. With the current rotation thriving, head coach Billy Donovan may be inclined to keep Vucevic, given his ability to stretch the floor, secure rebounds, and provide a reliable inside presence.
