Lionel Messi has questioned Cristiano Ronaldo ‘s qualifications to match with his count of seven Ballon d’Or wins.

Messi beat Poland captain Robert Lewandowski to the 2021 crown, with the Paris Saint-Germain star now two clear of Ronaldo when it comes to golden balls.
Furthermore, the 34-year-old, who has matched the Manchester United superstar all through his career, is sure that nobody will approach his sensational seven.
“I don’t know if the record is beatable,” Messi said during a post-ceremony press conference.
“I just have to accept it but I’m not sure if it can be beaten. Seven is really impressive.”
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague agrees with Messi, telling Mirror Football following the star-studded event: “I don’t think so.
“Nobody can catch Messi now. This is something unique for many reasons. Not even [Diego] Maradona or Pele had the consistency of Messi.
“Sometimes we say very good players I wish they were recognised, but in this case for as long as he is with us, there is not one single award that he didn’t deserve.
“Not even in 2010 where Xavi [Hernandez] and [Andres] Iniesta didn’t get it,” Balague noted as Spain won the World Cup that year.
“Now he’s on another planet. He already was. And I don’t think anybody can catch him now.”
