Phil Foden’s brace in the second half propelled Manchester City to a 3-1 comeback victory over Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.
Despite Marcus Rashford’s early thunderous strike giving Erik ten Hag’s side an unexpected lead in the Manchester derby, and Erling Haaland’s astonishing miss from close range, United maintained their lead until halftime.
Foden then showcased his brilliance with a superb strike to equalize before netting another to put City in front.
Haaland redeemed himself with a goal in stoppage time, but it was too late to salvage a result for United, ending their streak of 143 Premier League games without defeat when leading at halftime.
Ten Hag could highlight a tactical plan that succeeded for almost an hour and some close calls that did not go his team’s way, but City ultimately deserved the win. The result extends City’s unbeaten run to 10 games and narrows the gap to leaders Liverpool to just one point.
