It’s clear that Marcus Rashford had an outstanding season as Manchester United’s top goalscorer last year, but he’s struggled to find his form this season.
Rasmus Holund, his teammate, believes in Rashford’s world-class abilities and expects him to regain his best performance soon.
Rashford’s drop in form, with only one goal this season and concerns about his confidence and decision-making, has led to calls for him to lose his starting position on the left wing.
However, Holund has defended Rashford from criticism and expressed his enjoyment of playing alongside him.
Their successful link-up in a recent match against Galatasaray suggests that there’s potential for them to develop a strong understanding on the field, which could benefit Manchester United and its fans.
It’s not uncommon for top athletes to have periods of fluctuating form, and Rashford’s talent and dedication may help him return to his previous heights.
“I really like and enjoy playing with him. He is a world-class player,” Hojlund said about Rashford. “He’s a player I’ve looked up to, even though he’s only a few years older than me.
“He has done well since he came in as a 19-year-old and scored against Midtjylland. I think he has been a great player ever since, and it is of course great that we are teammates today.”
Hojlund was cheekily asked to determine who’s the faster player between himself and Rashford, and he responded with a smirk, “That’s me.”
The striker also spoke about his growing rapport with Rashford, saying,
“We communicate and he’s aware of my positioning. He knows I can match his pace on counter-attacks.”
Hojlund has netted three goals for Manchester United, all of which came in the Champions League.
