Mike Tyson is set to earn a substantial payday in his upcoming fight against Jake Paul.

The bout, scheduled for July 20 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas and broadcast live on Netflix, has garnered significant attention since it was announced.

Tyson, at 58 years old, will face Paul, 31 years his junior, in what is expected to be a professional bout.

Speculation around Tyson’s earnings for the fight has been rampant, with estimates suggesting he could earn around $20 million (£15.7 million).

This figure reflects the significant draw of the event and the interest it has generated among fans.

“I mean, you know what I respect, Uncle Mike… But it obviously takes two to tango,” he said.

“I feel like there is probably a really good payday for Mike. He’s probably going to wind up making close to about 20 mil, and he’s about to turn 58 years old.”

While the $20 million estimate for Tyson’s upcoming fight is speculative, it would align with the significant purses he commanded during his prime.

Over his career, Tyson reportedly earned approximately $430 million (£337.5 million).

His highest payday was $35 million for his bout with Lennox Lewis, and he earned $30 million for fights against Frank Bruno and Evander Holyfield.

Despite his lucrative fights, Tyson faced financial challenges and filed for bankruptcy in 2003.

However, he has since rebuilt his wealth through acting roles and his cannabis business.

Despite his financial success, Tyson’s decision to fight Paul shows he’s still interested in securing a substantial payday.
