Southampton winger Nathan Redmond is closing in on a move to Besiktas prior to Turkey’s transfer deadline, 90min understands.
The 27-year-old has fallen out of favour at St Mary’s and has been granted the opportunity to leave.
90min understands that Redmond has received several offers from Turkey, whose window closes on 8 September.
Istanbul giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahce are understood to have made offers to him, but he is set to turn down their advances and join Besiktas instead.
Besiktas remain in talks with Southampton over the structure of the deal, with current negotiations based on a one-year deal.
Redmond will fly to Turkey to wrap up the deal shortly, and will become the second Englishman to join the club this summer.
Dele Alli joined on an initial loan of his own from Everton at the back end of the English window, and he scored his first goal for Besiktas on Sunday night in a 3-2 win away at Ankaragucu.
Besiktas have also brought in the likes of Arthur Masuaku from West Ham and Wout Weghorst from Burnley on loans already this window.
After the opening five rounds of fixtures, they sit top of the Turkish Super Lig, though won’t compete in Europe this year after finishing sixth last season.
Arteta addresses concerns over Saliba desire to leave Arsenal
Mikel Arteta has “no doubts” that William Saliba wants to stay at Arsenal after fearing the defender’s relationship with the club may have been damaged by his turbulent start there.
Saliba joined Arsenal from Saint-Etienne in 2019 for £27million, but has broken into the first team only this season. Arsenal want to tie Saliba down to a new contract, as he has been in brilliant form and is into the final two years of his deal, although there is the option to extend it by 12 months.
Arteta is confident contract talks will go well, but he has revealed he did initially fear Saliba’s relationship with Arsenal could have been damaged by his start to life at the club.
After joining the Gunners, Saliba was loaned straight back to Saint-Etienne. The 21-year-old, who is likely to be one of many players rested tonight when Arsenal face Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League, returned to the club in 2020 and it was assumed he would go straight into the first-team squad.
Instead, Arsenal then tried to loan him back to Saint-Etienne, but a deal could not be completed before the transfer window shut. The centre-back duly spent six months playing for Arsenal’s Under-23s before joining Nice on loan in January 2021. Saliba was loaned out again last season, to Marseille, and despite spending three years away, Arteta is convinced the France defender feels at home at Emirates Stadium as the club opens contract talks with him.
“I was really impressed and surprised when I spoke to him,” said Arteta. “The way the relationship started, [I wondered] if there was damage there, because he had certain expectations. But he was so committed just to play for Arsenal. If I look at how he talks about the club and how much he wants to be here, I have no doubts that he wants to continue to be here.”
Man Utd scouts drop verdict on Benjamin Sesko as they target as Ronaldo replacement
Manchester United scouts have been dazzled by RB Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko, as indicated by reports.
The Red Devils considered a move for the 6ft 5in forward as Cristiano Ronaldo pushed for a mid year exit.
United wound up keeping the Portuguese star, with Sesko resolving to finish paperwork for RB Leipzig.
The Bundesliga side have consented to pay £21.6million for the Slovenian youngster toward the finish of the time.
Be that as it may, this has not prevented United from taking action.
According to 90min, the Red Devils are still interested in the 19-year-old ace – despite the fact RB Leipzig would demand a serious profit to sell him.
Erik ten Hag’s side aren’t the only side interested, with Chelsea and Bayern Munich also keen.
The Red Devils could have a vacancy up front, with Ronaldo rumoured to be chasing a January exit after starting only one Prem game so far this season.
Sesko has scored five times in 15 appearances so far this term for RB Salzburg – drawing blanks in Champions League clashes with AC Milan, Chelsea and Dinamo Zagreb.
He netted 11 times in 37 outings in all competitions last season, and has four in 15 caps for his country.
