The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is reportedly interested in hiring a foreign manager for the Super Eagles, despite Finidi George being considered a favorite for the role.
Finidi, who served as interim coach during the March international window, oversaw the team’s friendlies against Ghana and Mali.
However, certain events during Finidi’s interim tenure, including a reported dressing room altercation with players Sadiq Umar and Ademola Lookman, have raised concerns.
Sadiq allegedly ignored Finidi’s handshake gesture, while Lookman was reportedly displeased with the manager for not favoring him.
These incidents have led the NFF technical committee to consider overlooking Finidi for the head coach position to avoid further issues.
The NFF is aiming to avoid the kind of conflicts that reportedly occurred during Sunday Oliseh’s tenure as coach of the Super Eagles, where there were purported issues between players and the manager.
To prevent similar problems, the NFF is now turning its attention to hiring a foreign coach for the team.
