Despite Equatorial Guinea’s round of 16 exit from the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023, Emilio Nsue emerged as the tournament’s top scorer, earning him the PUMA Golden Boot award.

Nsue began his impressive campaign with a hat-trick against Guinea Bissau in the second round of matches, the tournament’s first and only hat-trick.

He continued his scoring form with a brace against host Cotê d’Ivoire in Equatorial Guinea’s 4-0 victory in the last group game.

With this achievement, Nsue joins an illustrious list of goal scorers, including Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba, Vincent Aboubakar, and Odion Ighalo, who have won the top scorer awards in the history of TotalEnergies CAF AFCON. Angola’s Jacinto Dala closely followed Nsue with four goals in the tournament.
