Palmer Shocks Fans with Unexpected Pick for His Dream Five-A-Side Team

Cole Palmer recently revealed his ultimate five-a-side team, featuring some of the top players he's shared the field with—but one name in particular came as a surprise. Palmer, who has blossomed into a star since moving from Manchester City to Chelsea last summer, won the PFA Young Player of the Year award last season. He has continued his impressive form, contributing six goals and four assists in Chelsea's first six Premier League games this season. Despite being just 22 years old, Palmer has already played alongside numerous world-class talents at both club and international levels. During an interview for the EFL’s TikTok account, he was asked to select his dream five-a-side team from his former teammates. Starting with his goalkeeper pick, Palmer chose Burnley’s James Trafford, stating, "I’ve played with him at England for many years, and I think he’s going to be a top keeper." Both Palmer and Trafford were key players for the England U21 team that won the 2023 Euros under Lee Carsley. For his two defenders, Palmer selected Manchester City’s John Stones and Chelsea's Thiago Silva. "John Stones is an amazing player and a great person," Palmer noted. On Silva, he added, "He's a really good player with a lot of experience." No surprises came with Palmer’s two attacking choices. "Kevin De Bruyne—everyone knows what he can do," Palmer said. He also picked Erling Haaland, explaining, "I don't really need to say much about him." Interestingly, Thiago Silva was the only Chelsea player in Palmer’s selection, despite Silva having left the club earlier in the year. Palmer has played a key role in Chelsea’s resurgence this season, with the team currently sitting fourth in the Premier League, just two points behind leaders Liverpool.
