Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, who is reportedly set to join Real Madrid, is taking steps to protect his iconic goal celebration.

Mbappe’s celebration, where he folds his arms and hunches his shoulders, has become synonymous with his goal-scoring prowess.

According to reports from Cadena Cope, Mbappe is seeking brand protection for his celebration and his name.

This protection will cover the use of his celebration and name in 27 European Union countries, including Spain, where Real Madrid is based.

This move will legally establish his celebration and name as his intellectual property, requiring permission or potentially payment for any products or branding using them.

Mbappe has previously protected phrases like ‘Football has changed’ and ‘Don’t talk to me about age’ (in French) under brand protection.

This trend of brand protection is common among top football stars, with players like Vinicius Junior (3), Cristiano Ronaldo has six, and Lionel Messi also having four registrations to protect their personal brands.

New England 1-4 Inter Miami CF: Messi nets brace, Suarez scores [VIDEO]

Lionel Messi made history in Major League Soccer (MLS) by becoming the first player to record five consecutive matches with multiple goal contributions (goals or assists) as Inter Miami secured a 4-1 victory over the New England Revolution.

Messi’s stellar performance included goals in both halves, guiding his team to another triumph as Tata Martino’s side maintains its position at the top of the Eastern Conference with a record of 6 wins, 3 draws, and 2 losses.

With his eighth and ninth goals of the season, Messi continues to climb the ranks of Inter Miami’s all-time top scorers, with Gonzalo Higuain’s record of 29 goals in sight for this season. Despite the eventual positive outcome for the visitors, the game began on a challenging note.

Inter Miami faced defensive challenges early on, conceding a goal to Thomas Chancalay in less than a minute, giving the hosts an early lead and a surge of momentum.

However, Inter Miami responded, with Messi showcasing his goal-scoring prowess. His eighth goal of the season came in the 32nd minute, as he clinically finished a chance at the near post in front of a crowd of 65,000 fans.

In the second half, Messi continued his magic. Sergio Busquets delivered a superb through ball, allowing Messi to elegantly finish to the opposite post.

Benjamin Cremaschi extended Inter Miami’s lead with a goal in the 83rd minute, sealing the victory before Luis Suarez added another goal in the 88th minute.

Inter Miami’s next match will be against the New York Red Bulls on Saturday.

Bellingham ruled out of Real Madrid’s trip to Real Sociedad after illness concern

Carlo Ancelotti has finalized his 20-man squad for Real Madrid’s upcoming match against Real Sociedad on Friday night, a fixture that has been rescheduled 24 hours earlier to allow for extra rest ahead of their crucial Champions League semi-final first leg against Bayern Munich.

One notable absence from the squad is Jude Bellingham, who has been dealing with gastroenteritis and missed training on Thursday.

Ancelotti has opted to give him the weekend off to recover fully and be ready for the clash against Bayern Munich.

Ferland Mendy is also sidelined, as confirmed by Ancelotti in his pre-match press conference.

However, there is positive news as Rodrygo Goes has recovered from flu and is available for selection after missing training on Thursday.

A victory at the Reale Arena would extend Real Madrid’s lead at the top of La Liga to 14 points, with Barcelona not playing until Monday.

Ancelotti will be looking for a strong performance from his team to edge closer to securing the league title.

Manchester City 1-1 Real Madrid (agg 4-4): Los Blancos through after shootout (Video)

Manchester City’s hopes of retaining the Champions League were dashed by Real Madrid in a thrilling quarter-final at Etihad Stadium that ended in a penalty shootout.

Despite going behind early to Rodrygo’s goal, City dominated the game and equalized through Kevin de Bruyne in the 76th minute. Their relentless attack, however, was met with a resilient defense from Real, who managed to hold on until the end of extra time.

The match was ultimately decided by penalties, with Luka Modric missing Real’s first spot-kick. However, City’s Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic failed to convert, allowing Rudiger to score the winning penalty for Real Madrid.

The defeat ended City’s hopes of securing another treble, as they now shift their focus to the Premier League and FA Cup. They face Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley on Saturday, needing to bounce back quickly from this disappointment.
