The 21-year-old center-back, who impressed at the World Cup, is keen on joining Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning team for the upcoming season.
According to Leipzig’s sporting director Max Eberl, Gvardiol and his agents have expressed their desire to move to Manchester City.
Talks are currently underway between the two clubs to make the transfer happen.
“Gvardiol and his agents gave us their desire to move to Manchester City. We are in talks with City,” Leipzig sporting director Max Eberl said, as quoted by The Times.
“Yes, for €100 million plus bonuses, Gvardiol will end up in Pep’s strong hands.
“The value of the deal would make Gvardiol the most expensive defender in history. But it might take a few more days.”
