Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid has once again found himself in the spotlight after quieting Real Sociedad fans following his successful penalty in a 2-0 victory.
The gesture irritated many supporters, sparking controversy over the weekend. While some have dismissed it as a minor issue, Real Madrid legend Pedja Mijatovic publicly criticized the Brazilian on a radio show after the match.
Reports have emerged suggesting that Vinicius is feeling increasingly isolated at the club, with manager Carlo Ancelotti as his only ally.
According to Cadena SER, some members of the club’s hierarchy are unhappy with Vinicius’s recent comments questioning Spain’s suitability to host the 2030 World Cup unless they address their issues with racism.
There are claims that club President Florentino Perez is among those displeased with his remarks.
The same radio station also reported that Vinicius believes he is being targeted by a media campaign in Spain due to his outspoken views on the World Cup. Frustrated with the constant scrutiny, he feels mistreated by the ongoing media noise.
He is particularly upset about rumors of a rift between him and Kylian Mbappe, which he denies. It’s worth noting that these rumors surfaced before his World Cup comments.
Teammate Dani Carvajal, while on international duty, expressed his disagreement with Vinicius’s statements, asserting that “Spain is not a racist country.”
However, Carvajal later voiced his support for Vinicius ahead of Real Madrid’s Champions League clash with Stuttgart, as did manager Ancelotti.
Despite the media backlash and the controversies, the Real Madrid dressing room remains united behind the Brazilian star. While some players are not fond of his frequent complaints to referees, he still enjoys unwavering support from teammates like Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo Goes, Eduardo Camavinga, and Aurelien Tchouameni.
