Reason why Bernardo insisted on buyout clause in new Man City contract

Manchester City‘s Bernardo Silva has included an affordable £50 million buyout clause in his new contract.

The Portugal midfielder extended his contract with the club until 2026 last month.

A potential move to Barcelona was scuttled by the club’s Financial Fair Play problems, but there’s optimism that a deal could materialize next summer.

Silva’s decision to include a relatively low release clause in his contract opens the door for a potential transfer to the Nou Camp in the future.
