According to reports, Manchester United is in talks to sign goalkeeper Yann Sommer from Borussia Monchengladbach.
The Bundesliga club’s 33-year-old player will be available for free transfer at the conclusion of the season.
Martin Dubravka, a goalkeeper on loan from Newcastle United, serves as United’s David De Gea’s backup.
ESPN, on the other hand, claims that United are currently preparing a move to sign Sommer to compete with De Gea next summer.
In contrast, it is anticipated that Dubravka will return to Newcastle before the season ends.
Sommer played three games at the World Cup in Qatar on Tuesday, when Switzerland lost to Portugal in their last-16 match.
Since 2014, the 33-year-old has been Borussia Monchengladbach’s primary goalkeeper, but it appears that the German team has already begun making preparations for his departure.
