Sergio Aguero Slams ‘Entitled’ Real Madrid for Reaction to Vinicius Jr Ballon d’Or Loss

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has criticized Real Madrid’s reaction after Rodri claimed the Ballon d’Or over Vinicius Jr.

Real Madrid, disappointed by Vinicius Jr. missing out on the award, expressed their frustration through an official statement condemning UEFA and France Football for “disrespect” and opted to boycott the ceremony in Paris.

Eduardo Camavinga, Vinicius’s Real Madrid teammate, also spoke out against the “football politics” behind the decision, while fans on social media called Rodri’s win the “biggest robbery in football history.”

Rodri’s Ballon d’Or win follows an exceptional year, where he contributed to Spain’s Euro 2024 victory and secured several titles with Manchester City, including the Premier League, UEFA Super Cup, and Club World Cup.

This marks the first time a Manchester City player has won the award, and club icon Aguero believes Rodri is fully deserving of the honor.

Aguero remarked, “Well deserved. Rodri is the best player in the world. Football is for everyone, not just Real Madrid. They’re so entitled.”

Rodri’s incredible form has seen him lose just once in his last 85 games for club and country, a loss that came against Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

However, Rodri is currently sidelined for the season with an ACL injury, meaning he can only watch as Manchester City continues their pursuit of more titles in 2024-25.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid remains determined to capture additional trophies, though they face a challenge in La Liga, currently trailing Barcelona by six points after Sunday’s El Clasico defeat.
