Sir Jim Ratcliffe spoke with the Wall Street Journal about his attempt to buy Manchester United.

Ratcliffe, who was a fan of the team as a child, is refusing to give in to the Glazers’ demand for a full sale for more than £6 billion.

The founder of INEOS stated, in explaining his decision: “Our interest in that club would be purely in winning things.

“How do you decide the price of a painting? How do you decide the price of a house?

“It’s not related to how much it cost to build or how much it cost to paint.

“What you don’t want to do is pay stupid prices for things because then you regret it subsequently.”

One of the potential buyers of the club is the British billionaire. Qatar is also interested, and both parties are vying for victory.
