Slot exposed Ten Hag in 60 seconds after Liverpool hammering of United [VIDEO]

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has shared the tactical strategies that led to his team’s dominant 3-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday.

The Reds secured the win with two goals from Luis Diaz and one from Mohamed Salah. While individual mistakes from United’s midfield, particularly by Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo, contributed to the goals, Slot’s tactical approach played a crucial role in exploiting the weaknesses in Erik ten Hag’s setup.

Slot, formerly of Feyenoord, explained the key vulnerabilities his coaching staff identified in United’s formation ahead of the match. He also noted the tactical differences between this season and the previous one.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Slot said: “Last season, United were more focused on man-marking in midfield and pressing with their wingers.

This season, they’ve shifted to a 4-4-2 setup, pressing with their number 9 and 10. I’ve noticed they’re working harder off the ball, running more to close down spaces.”

He added, “Their full-backs often push high up the pitch, with Casemiro dropping back to cover. Our plan was to keep Diaz and Salah high, forcing United into one-on-one situations. Our midfielders, who were relentless in their pressing, were key in winning these duels, which was a major factor in our victory.”

Slot acknowledged that keeping his wingers high could have been risky if they didn’t track back, but fortunately, they did their defensive duties well.

Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane also pointed out the positional errors made by United’s full-backs, Diogo Dalot and Noussair Mazraoui. He criticized Casemiro for a poor pass that led to one of the goals, noting that such mistakes left United vulnerable.

“Their right-back and left-back were out of position, and at this level, you can’t afford to make those kinds of errors,” Keane said.

The tactical approaches of both teams highlighted the importance of winning one-on-one battles on the wings, which ultimately contributed to Liverpool’s decisive victory.

Ruben Amorim Reveals How Man Utd Will Play Under His Management

Ruben Amorim has vowed to revolutionize Manchester United with a bold, no-fear approach, promising to bring back the dominance of the Premier League’s “engine.”

The 39-year-old Portuguese tactician, who signed a contract running until June 2027, will make his managerial debut for the Red Devils against Ipswich Town on November 24. Despite inheriting a team currently languishing in 13th place, Amorim is undeterred, insisting that his fearless philosophy will take effect immediately.

“We know rebuilding takes time,” Amorim admitted. “But from day one, we’ll play without fear. There’s no space for hesitation or thinking about what they’re used to. We start with our vision immediately—no compromises.”

Amorim becomes the sixth manager tasked with reviving Manchester United since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013. Notable predecessors like Jose Mourinho and Louis van Gaal fell short of restoring the club’s glory, while Erik ten Hag’s tenure left fans longing for flair over fear.

Yet, Amorim remains unfazed by the immense expectations.
“It’s a great responsibility, but also an honour,” he said. “If the team performs well and wins, the entire atmosphere transforms. Manchester United is the engine of football, the heartbeat of the Premier League. While we haven’t won the league in a long time, this is the biggest club in England, and it’s time to reclaim that status.”

Amorim’s arrival marks a new chapter not only for the club but also for his personal career. He leaves Sporting Lisbon as a two-time league champion, ending their 19-year title drought and cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting young managers. This season, Sporting boasted a flawless record of 11 wins from 11 league games under his guidance.

Despite interest from Liverpool and Chelsea, Amorim revealed that only Manchester United could tempt him away from Portugal.

“This was my only choice because of what this club represents,” he said. “I’m honoured to be here and will do everything for the team. I’ll stand by my players and fight to restore United to its rightful place.”

Amorim believes the hunger for success at Old Trafford sets the stage for something extraordinary.
“Everyone here craves success, and that’s what makes this club so special,” he explained. “This is where I want to be—leading a team that’s ready to make history. I believe we will succeed.”

With his fearless attitude and proven track record, Amorim is determined to steer Manchester United into a new era of success, reigniting the passion of fans and players alike. The journey begins now.

'I'm Not Naive', Says Amorim As He Relishes 'Difficult' Man Utd Challenge

Ruben Amorim is stepping into his role as Manchester United’s new head coach with a realistic outlook, acknowledging the “challenging” journey ahead.

After overseeing his final match as Sporting CP’s manager—a 4-2 victory over Braga to preserve their flawless start to the Primeira Liga season—Amorim wrapped up his successful tenure with a remarkable record.

The 39-year-old achieved 164 wins in 231 games (D34 L33), leaving with a club-best 71% win rate.

Amorim joins United after an encouraging stint by interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who remained unbeaten in four games. Despite the boost from recent results, Amorim is aware of the scale of the challenge awaiting him at Old Trafford.

“I’m ready for this new challenge,” Amorim shared with reporters after his final Sporting match. “But I’m not naive; I understand this will be very different and very demanding. I’m at peace now, able to focus fully on what lies ahead, and I’m excited to start tomorrow.”

Though hopeful about the fresh opportunity, he also acknowledged the unique pressures of his new role: “I know it will be hard to replicate what I had here, but there are other places with their own exposure and intensity.”

The club has yet to officially confirm Amorim’s backroom team, leaving it unclear if Van Nistelrooy will remain. The former United striker rejoined the club over the summer as an assistant to Erik ten Hag, signing a two-year contract. “I’ll speak with him [on Monday],” Amorim noted. “I’ll be straightforward. Let’s see where we stand.”

With 13 days before United’s next game, an away match against Ipswich Town on November 24, Amorim has the international break to prepare. He will make his Old Trafford debut shortly after, on November 28, in a Europa League clash against Bodo/Glimt.

Van Nistelrooy, who initially returned to Old Trafford over the summer to work under Erik ten Hag, stepped into the interim manager role after Ten Hag's departure on October 28. Despite leading United to an unbeaten four-match streak, culminating in a 3-0 victory over Leicester City, this marked his final game with the club, as Amorim decided not to retain him. Although Amorim’s coaching staff lineup has yet to be officially announced, it is confirmed that Van Nistelrooy will not be part of it. Amorim, who managed Sporting Lisbon prior to his move to United, secured a win in his final game in Portugal just a day before his arrival in Manchester earlier today. Before taking his flight from Beja International Airport, Amorim indicated he would discuss Van Nistelrooy's future with him on Monday. The flight, a private jet, became the most tracked journey worldwide on Flightradar24, sparking intense fan interest and speculation as Amorim prepares to shape his new team.
