Former Nigerian international midfielder, Sunday Oliseh, has lauded Arsenal for their determined performance against Manchester City, suggesting they could be strong contenders for the Premier League title this season.
Arsenal managed a 2-2 draw against City at the Etihad Stadium, despite being reduced to 10 men after Leandro Trossard’s red card. Following the match, Oliseh took to social media to express his admiration for Arsenal’s display.
“Arsenal fully deserved to win over Manchester City. That questionable red card saved City from a heavy defeat by a well-organized Arsenal side, in my view,” Oliseh wrote. “Compact, direct play with a world-class goalkeeper. Arsenal could be champions this year!”
The draw leaves Arsenal just two points behind Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table. With 38 games still to play, the title race remains wide open, but Oliseh’s praise highlights the Gunners’ potential to push for their first title since 2004.
His assessment mirrors that of many pundits who believe Arsenal’s squad depth and quality are enough to rival City for the league’s top spot.
As the Premier League title race heats up, Arsenal will face stiff competition from other contenders like Liverpool and Chelsea.
