Tennessee Launches Strategic Teaming Initiative to Boost Economic Development

Nashville, TN – April 4, 2025 – The state of Tennessee has announced a bold new initiative called the Tennessee Strategy Teaming Program, aimed at strengthening regional collaboration and accelerating economic growth across the state. This new strategy will bring together government agencies, private companies, educational institutions, and local communities to work in tandem on high-impact projects.

Governor Bill Lee praised the initiative during a press conference, calling it a “forward-thinking approach to job creation and innovation.”

“Tennessee has always thrived when we work together. This strategic teaming program is about maximizing our strengths—urban and rural, public and private—to make our state more competitive nationally and globally.”

Key goals of the initiative include:

  • Fostering innovation through public-private partnerships
  • Supporting workforce development with tailored training programs
  • Improving infrastructure in underserved areas
  • Promoting investment in tech, manufacturing, and green industries

The first phase of the program will focus on five regions, including Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville, and rural areas in East Tennessee. Each regional team will receive state funding and resources to develop collaborative proposals that address local challenges.

Industry leaders, such as Nissan North America and FedEx, have expressed support, with several already joining strategy teams to contribute expertise and funding.

With bipartisan support and a strong emphasis on regional empowerment, the Tennessee Strategy Teaming Program is being hailed as a potential model for other states aiming to enhance economic resilience through collaboration.
