Ter Stegen's Injury Opens Door for Barcelona to Register Dani Olmo Until Next Summer

During the summer transfer window, Barcelona faced difficulties registering Dani Olmo following his high-profile move from RB Leipzig.

He missed the first two games of the season against Valencia and Athletic Club due to insufficient salary space under La Liga’s financial regulations.

However, a long-term injury to Andreas Christensen eventually created room for Olmo’s registration.

Barcelona made the difficult decision to unregister Christensen to accommodate Olmo, though this registration is only valid until the end of 2024.

Starting January 1st, the club will need to find a permanent solution to re-register the Spanish midfielder. Fortunately, Barcelona appears to be on the verge of resolving the issue.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants are expected to unregister Marc-Andre ter Stegen following his season-ending knee injury.

By doing so, the club will be able to use 80% of the German goalkeeper’s salary to re-register Olmo. Additionally, this financial adjustment could also cover the impending signing of Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.

While this move provides a temporary fix, Barcelona remains under pressure to improve their financial situation in the coming months.

Nonetheless, it ensures that Olmo’s registration will not pose any further issues for the rest of the season.
