The best attacking midfielders to sign on Football Manager 2023

Published

on

Some of the most popular formations on Football Manager 2023 rely on an attacking midfielder, so it’s important to find yourself a good one.

Regardless of what sort of transfer budget you’re working with, there are plenty of top talents out there who could make a real difference in your team. You could send your scouts to find them, but we’ve all the hard work already.

Here are the best attacking midfielders to sign on any budget on FM23.

Juan Fernando Quintero
River

Quintero brings very little when it comes to physical stats but his technical abilities are insane. 18 vision, 17 passing and 16 dribbling should be worth a lot more than £2.3m.

Nicolas de la Cruz
River

River teammate De la Cruz is just as intriguing. The 25-year-old is worth £2.3m and still has some room to grow into a really nice player.

Tjaronn Chery
Maccabi Haifa

£420,000 will get you veteran imdfielder Chery. He might not have too many years left in the tank but, at that sort of price, you can’t really complain.

Roberto Pereyra
Udinese

The attacking midfielder/wing-back hybrid that is Pereyra is worth every penny of his £4.3m price tag. He has 14s and 15s all over his attributes page.

Taison
INT

Another who is approaching the end of their careers, Taison is 34 but still brings 16 flair and 16 dribbling. He should be a whole lot of fun.

90min recommends

Alvaro Fidalgo
America

Fidalgo is one of the biggest bargains on the entire game. The 25-year-old Spaniard, who has 17 passing, is undeniably good enough for a top division and can be picked up for just £425,000. With his tiny wages as well, you will not find an attacking midfielder who represents that sort of value for money anywhere.

Rade Krunic
Milan

Another top-tier talent, Krunic comes in a little pricier at £4.5m, which only emphasises how good of a deal Fidalgo represents.

Lars Stindl
Borussia Monchengladbach

£1.4m for Stindl is a nice price. The 33-year-old boasts some unreal mental stats and would make a nice pick-up for a smaller side.

Juan Mata
Galatasaray

Mata is undoubtedly approaching the twilight of his career but his £1.2m price tag is still more than fair.

Oscar Trejo
Vallecano

Trejo is another 34-year-old who you should consider bringing in for a year or two. £1.2m is pretty reasonable.

Denis Suarez
Vigo

Stepping up to £10.5m, Suarez is brilliant value for money. His 16 passing and 15 dribbling will make him a reapl problem for defenders.

Thomas Lemar
A. Madrid

Lemar is sensational value at his £10m price tag, but it gets even better as he usually hits the transfer list in the first summer and can be picked up for half that amount in just a month or two. You definitely should be considering him.

Marko Livaja
Hajduk

Livaja might not be a wonderkid anymore but the 28-year-old is still a top talent who is great value at £7.25m.

David Silva
Real San Sebastian

Now 36, Silva remains an elite playmaker who can be recruited for just £3.2m. You’ll need some hefty wages to convince him to sign, but with that initial expense, it should all balance out.

Marek Hamsik
Trabzonspor

Similarly, Hamsik is another cheap transfer fee to go with hefty wage demands. He’ll cost you just £775,000 up front so the whole thing shouldn’t be tough to afford if you’re shopping at this price point.

90min recommends

Joaquin Correa
Inter

At just £7.75m, Correa is a real bargain. The versatile Argentine can do a job anywhere on the forward line, so it’s up to you how to make the most of his 17 pace and 16 dribbling.

Oliver
Sevilla

On the transfer list at Sevilla, Oliver is available for a cool £12.5m. The 27-year-old still has a little room to grow as well so you could have a top midfielder for the next five years.

Xherdan Shaqiri
Chicago Fire

Shaqiri has some hefty wage demands to go along with his £6.25m price tag. If you’ve got a lot of room left in your salary cap, he could be the one for you.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan
Inter

33-year-old Mkhitaryan is excellent value for his £3.4m price tag. He’s only just joined, however, so you’ll have to keep an eye on how he settles.

Adam Lallana
Brighton

You don’t always get value for money with Premier League sides but, at £6m, you can’t go wrong with Lallana.

Expensive options

Rafa
Benfica

Rafa has made it into our RW and LW lists before this, and he completes the trifecta with an appearance here. The Benfica man is sensational value for money at £26m.

Steven Berghuis
Ajax

Berghuis is an excellent creator with 14s and 15s all over his card. For £25m, you won’t find much better than him.

Otavio
Porto

Some top sides end up circling around Otavio pretty quickly and that’s largely to do with his bargan £32m price tag. For that money, you’re getting a top player who is comfortable anywhere in midfield.

Eden Hazard
R. Madrid

Hazard begins the game on the transfer list and sees his £27m asking price tumble pretty quickly. He has some massive wage demands, however, so he might be one to wait for.

Angel Correa
A. Madrid

On the other side of Madrid is another 90min favourite in Correa. His £38m asking price represents real value for money.

90min recommends

Pedro Goncalves
Sporting CP

What sets Goncalves apart from the bunch is his age. He’s only 23 and has some really nice potential, so you’re getting a top player in the present and a potential superstar for the next decade. You can’t go wrong for £32m.

Luis Alberto
Lazio

Alberto has plenty of 17s on his attributes page, including in passing, so he’s absolutely worth considering at £31m.

Paulo Dybala
Roma

You have to wait to trigger Dybala’s £17.25m release clause but the Argentine is definitely worth waiting for. He’s one of the top forwards on the game and you won’t find anyone close to his quality for that sort of money.

Memphis Depay
Barcelona

In the final year of his contract at Barcelona, Memphis is available for a cool £43m. If you don’t want to risk losing him forever, that’s a very reasonable price for someone of his top-tier quality.

Marco Reus
Borussia Dortmund

Taking us home is Reus. It feels wrong to take him out of Dortmund but, at £31m, you shouldn’t really hesitate to. He’s a sensational player whose focus is more on scoring goals than creating them.

Monterrey signs midfielder Jordi Cortizo from Puebla

Published

Rayados de Monterrey have signed midfielder Jordi Cortizo from Club Puebla, ahead of the 2023 Liga MX Clausura.

He joins the Guadalajara team on a four-season contract, according to Diego Armando Medina of TUDN.

“I have been delighted since the opportunity to come here was given, I always knew that I had to make a leap to these big leagues with one of the biggest clubs in Mexico,” Cortizo said of his transfer.

Cortizo kicked off his professional career with Queretaro in 2017, recording four goals in 76 appearances over the course of three years before seeing stints with Tijuana and Puebla. He managed well in Liga MX, but it wasn’t until the 2022 Apertura that he became a standout.

The offensive midfielder recorded five goals in 20 overall matches to inspire Puebla to eighth on the table and the Liguilla quarterfinals.

Overall, Cortizo has 12 goals in 149 Liga MX appearances.

“They are going to see a player who always tries, that will never fail, who will go for the ball, will try to play, propose offensive play, go forward and who will always give himself up for the club. It is my dream to be champion of the Liga MX, there is no better option today than to be sitting here and with this squad to achieve it,” he said.

Cortizo stands as the first signing under new Monterrey president Jose Antonio Noriega, who replaced Duilio Davino  following the team’s elimination from the 2022 Apertura. Upon his arrival, Noriega insisted he needed to evaluate the team’s needs before making drastic changes.

But the arrival of Jordi Cortizo will now set off the several moves already planned.

The 2023 Liga MX Clausura kicks off on January 6.

Club America sign defender Israel Reyes from Puebla

Published

on

Club America has finally signed defender Israel Reyes from Club Puebla.

He stands as the team’s first reinforcement ahead of the 2023 Liga MX Clausura, joining on a four-year contract.  The Mexico City team reportedly paid $4.5M for Reyes, after he established himself as one of the most promising defenders in the Mexican league.

Reyes kicked off his professional career with Atlas in 2019, before quickly securing a loan deal to Puebla. After 19 games with the Franja, the team exercised his purchase option to make Reyes a staple of the backline.

But it wasn’t until the 2022 Apertura that he became a standout in the Mexican league. The 22-year-old managed three goals in 17 games of the 2022 Apertura, inspiring Puebla to eighth place in the regular season and the Liguilla quarterfinals.

Overall, he recorded six goals in 76 appearances with Puebla before joining Club America.

Internationally, the player holds one cap with the Mexican national team. He made his debut on December 8, 2021, coming on as a substitute in the 68th minute of a friendly against Chile.
