Jesse Lingard marked his return to the London Stadium with the winner as David de Gea saved Mark Noble’s stoppage time penalty to earn Manchester United a dramatic 2-1 win over West Ham.
Lingard, who excelled on loan with the Hammers during the second half, fired home on 89 minutes after Cristiano Ronaldo had cancelled out Said Benrahma’s opener, and appeared to have sewn up the three points.

However, Luke Shaw’s handball gave the hosts a late chance to earn a share of the spoils but Noble – brought on specifically to take the kick – saw his effort pushed away by De Gea.
West Ham had gone ahead on the half-hour mark with a deflected strike from Benrahma but the visitors responded five minutes later, Ronaldo heading a Bruno Fernandes cross at Lukasz Fabianksi and following up to tap the ball into the net.
It was Ronaldo’s fourth goal in three games after netting twice on his second debut for the club against Newcastle United and once in the 2-1 Champions League defeat at Young Boys on Tuesday.
