Youssoufa Moukoko agrees to sign new Borussia Dortmund contract

Published

on

Youssoufa Moukoko has agreed to sign a new contract at Borussia Dortmund which will make him one of the highest paid players at the club, 90min understands.

The 18-year-old’s future has been up in the air for a considerable amount of time, with his current Dortmund deal due to expire at the end of the season.

The Bundesliga giants had been in negotiations with Moukoko over a new deal but had been unable to agree terms with the teenager as his representatives sought to make him one of the club’s highest earners.

Barcelona, Chelsea and Newcastle had all been monitoring his situation – the latter two even made offers – in the hope they could prise him away on a free transfer and 90min revealed last week Dortmund had put forward one final offer to Moukoko in the hope he’d commit his future to the club.

Sources have now confirmed to 90min Moukoko has accepted that latest proposal, which will see earn around €10m a year including fees and bonuses.

Listen now as Scott Saunders hosts Graeme Bailey and Toby Cudworth in the latest episode of Talking Transfers. This week’s agenda includes Jude Bellingham, Harry Kane, Declan Rice, Hakim Ziyech, Leandro Trossard, Pedro Porro, Mykhaylo Mudryk and more!

Sporting director Sebastian Kehl confirmed in an interview with German outlet Kicker that an attractive financial package had been put to Moukoko, saying: “We have put together a very attractive offer that gives him a lot of room for development. That should lead to a decision. He has to make it with his environment and his advisor.

“Youssoufa can now accept this offer and commit to Borussia Dortmund – or we will go our separate ways. I would like him to choose us because he is not yet at the end of his development and I see potential in him. But there are limits for us as a club. And we have shown these limits. Now it’s up to him to confess in a timely manner.”

Moukoko became the youngest player to represent Germany at a World Cup during this winter’s tournament in Qatar, while he has six goals to his name from 22 Dortmund appearances this season.

Man Utd close to signing Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich

Published

on

Man Utd are close to signing Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich on a loan deal until the end of the season, 90min has learned.

United have moved for Sabitzer on transfer deadline day following the news that Christian Eriksen will be out until late April or early May with an ankle injury sustained in the FA Cup win over Reading on Saturday.

The Dane’s injury leaves United light in the midfield department, with Donny van de Beek also out for the remainder of the season with an injury of his own.

Sabitzer, 28, boarded a flight to Manchester from Munich on Tuesday evening after an agreement of a straight loan deal was largely fleshed out between the two clubs, and the player has also agreed personal terms. 90min reported earlier in the day that Sabitzer was “very excited” about the potential move to Old Trafford.

The club were not planning to move for a new player prior to the deadline, though the severity of Eriksen’s injury has convinced Erik ten Hag to push for United to act, as they chase a place in the Premier League’s top four and attempt to win their first trophy since 2017. They are currently competing on four fronts.

United have until 11pm GMT to push through the transfer before the deadline, though could request a short extension from the Premier League to complete the deal if necessary.

What Man Utd can expect from Marcel Sabitzer

Published

on

One of the shock deadline day deals this January could be Marcel Sabitzer to Manchester United as the club seeks to replace Christian Eriksen.

The Dane has been ruled out until late April at the earliest after he suffered an ankle injury during the FA Cup win over Reading. Andy Carroll’s scissor tackle left its mark on the former Tottenham man and he is set for a long spell on the sidelines.

Eriksen has started all but two of United’s Premier League games so far this season and has been instrumental in their rise up the table and successful cup runs.

A loan deal for Sabitzer from Bayern Munich is now being pursued and there is a lot of confidence that it will get done before the window slams shut. What can watching fans expect from the Austrian?

The 28-year-old midfielder began his career in various different youth teams before getting into the Admira Wacker senior team. A move to Rapid Vienna followed and then 18 months later, he became one of the major parts of Red Bull’s Rasenballsport Leipzig project.

He joined the club in 2014 and eventually became one of the most important elements of the side after a loan to RB Salzburg, and one that seemed destined for a move to a bigger club in the near future along with the likes of Timo Werner and Naby Keita.

He returned from his loan in Austria in 2015 and spent the next six years with Leipzig, showing his versatility and technical ability. He then joined Bayern Munich in 2021 for just €15 million despite clearly being worth much more than that.

One of his crowning moments during his time with Leipzig was this gorgeous strike against Zenit St. Petersburg in the Champions League.

Sabitzer has had a very healthy goals and assists record almost everywhere he has been, with Bayern Munich being the only real exception. The move south to Bavaria cannot really be called a success as whilst he has provided very useful depth, he hasn’t been able to produce the same sorts of numbers.

The Leipzig stats are the best indication of what he can bring to United, as if he really is a direct Eriksen replacement, he could go straight into the team alongside Casemiro. The fact that his goals and assists are almost the same shows he is a real dual threat.

Central midfield is where Sabitzer has been placed for the majority of his career but he does have the ability to play out on the right wing, as well as in a more attacking role down the middle.

He is quick on his feet and fairly nomadic in how he plays, much like Eriksen, He is technically very good, as shown by the goal above and this incredible effort against Hertha Berlin.

It is not hard to imagine United feeling as if they have landed on their feet after the Eriksen injury should the deal get over the line, so long as Sabitzer’s confidence has not taken too much of a knock at Bayern.

He tends to move a little higher up the pitch than Eriksen but he has more pace than the Dane, meaning he can track back more effectively. He doesn’t shirk a tackle and he can take the ball under pressure in a crowded midfield.

Man Utd in talks to sign Bayern Munich midfielder on deadline day

Published

Manchester United have open talks with Bayern Munich over a potential deadline day loan move for Marcel Sabitzer, 90min understands.

The Red Devils have entered the market late due to Christian Eriksen’s ankle problem – an injury which will mean the first-choice midfielder will be out of action until May.

Due to said injury, United have had to change tact on deadline day and attempt to make a last minute signing. And that signing could be set to be Austrian star Sabitzer from Bayern.

Having earlier been offered the player, 90min can report that talks are underway between Sabizter’s representatives and the Red Devils over a potential loan deal until the end of the current season.

Sabitzer is said to be ‘very excited’ about the potential move to Old Trafford.

That is despite his agent, Roger Wittmann, recently suggesting to German publication Bild that the midfielder was happy at Bayern: “Marcel feels comfortable with Bayern and has signed a five-year contract. To date, neither the club nor we have claimed anything else.”

United will have until 11pm (GMT) to finalise a deal to sign Sabitzer, who previously spent seven years at RB Leipzig – including one of those on loan at Red Bull Salzburg.
